Ukraine's gas producer UGV starts up well with daily flow rate of 200,000 cm at depleted field in Carpathians

MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Ukrgasvydobuvannya (UGV), Ukraine's leading gas producer, has put a well with a daily flow rate of 200,000 cubic meters of natural gas into production at a depleted deposit in the Carpathian Mountains, Ukrainian media reported citing Naftogaz of Ukraine CEO Alexei Chernyshov as saying on his social account.

"We started up a well at what was considered a depleted field in the Carpathians the other day. The 'depleted' field broke a 20-year regional production record and yielded over 200,000 cubic meters of gas a day," Chernyshov said.

"The well is a result of coordinated work and the application of 3D seismic measurements and advanced drilling techniques," Chernyshov said.

As reported earlier, UGV set itself the goal of increasing natural gas production by 1 billion cubic meters to 13.5 billion cubic meters in 2023.

UGV produced 12.5 billion cubic meters of commercial natural gas in 2022, which is 3% less than in 2021.

Naftogaz owns a 100% stake in UGV.
