Eurasian Resources Group commissions $130 mln coking plant in Kazakhstan's Karaganda region
ALMATY. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) has commissioned a coking plant at the Shubarkol Komir site in Kazakhstan's Karaganda region, the press service of the regional administration said.
The plant was official launched via a teleconference bridge during the First International Forum Kazakh Content 2.0.
This project is ERG's contribution to Kazakhstan's program for import substitution. After reaching its designed capacity, the enterprise will be significantly reduce the import of coke, thus increasing the Kazakh content in the domestic ferrochrome industry, the statement says.
The design capacity of the plant is 400,000 tonnes of special coke per year. Investment in the project amounted to 60 billion tenge or $130 million. The plant will employ 184 workers.
