Belarus, China might establish free trade zone for services

MINSK. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Belarus and China plan to sign an agreement on trade in services and investment.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has signed an order approving a draft agreement as the basis for negotiations, the Pul Pervogo Telegram channel, which is close to the president's press service, reported.

"Thus, the legal foundation for the sustained and dynamic development of trade and investment relations between the two countries is being laid. This refers to the creation of a free zone for trade in services between Belarus and China, and a transparent, liberal and favorable investment regime for attracting investment," the statement said.

The Economy Ministry has been authorized to conduct negotiations and sign the treaty once the terms are agreed.

"It is expected that in future cooperation under the agreement will make it possible to dynamically increase exports of Belarusian services to China and increase investment flows from China," the statement said.
