Denmark to donate 7 million euros to Ukraine Energy Support Fund

MOSCOW. Nov 15 (Interfax) - Denmark will donate 7 million euros to the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund, which would finance the purchase of equipment for restoring energy infrastructure, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Energy Ministry.

The first tranche of 4 million euros will be made available soon and another 3 million euros will be transferred later, the ministry said on Tuesday evening.

Danish Minister for Climate, Energy, and Utilities Lars Aagaard announced the donation at a meeting with Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko on the sidelines of the Energy for the Recovery of Ukraine international conference in Warsaw arranged at the Ukrainian Energy Ministry's proposal.

Galushchenko thanked Denmark for becoming the Fund's first sponsor by making a grant contribution of about 536,000 euros, which was used to buy energy equipment for ten Ukrainian energy companies.

As reported, the Ukraine Energy Support Fund was established in spring 2022 at the initiative of Galushchenko and European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson.

The ministry has said earlier that the overall amount of commitments undertaken by donors regarding their grant contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has topped 322 million euros, of which 192 million euros has been actually transferred from 15 state and private donors of several countries, and the rest of the amount is expected to come to the fund's account in the near future.
