India liberalizes Ukrainian grain access to its market

MOSCOW. Nov 15 (Interfax) - The Indian Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has included Ukraine in the list of countries not treating grain with fumigants based on the such active ingredient as methyl bromide (CH3Br), Ukrainian media said, citing the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, which, in turn, referred to the Ukrainian embassy to India.

"This will exempt domestic exporters from additional payments (penalties) envisaged by local laws and will allow export grains disinfected with products based on aluminum phosphide," the service said.

Ukrainian grain exported to India should be disinfected exclusively with aluminum phosphide products, the service said. It added that the work on resumption of Ukraine grain exports to India began in 2016.
