European Commission allocates additional 110 mln euros in humanitarian aid to Ukraine

MOSCOW. Nov 14 (Interfax) - The European Commission (EC) has said it is allocating additional 110 million euros in humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

The EC press service issued the relevant statement in Brussels on Tuesday, Ukrainian media reported.

"The humanitarian situation in the country remains dire. The onset of winter poses further challenges. The Commission is therefore allocating 110 million euros in humanitarian aid of which 100 million euros will go to operations in Ukraine and 10 million euros to support Ukrainian refugees and host communities in Moldova," the statement said.

This new funding will help the EU's humanitarian partners to provide to essential services such as cash assistance, food, water, shelter, healthcare, psychosocial support and protection, the EC said.

The latest allocation brings the total for EU humanitarian aid to Ukraine to 843 million euros.

The EU is also prioritizing energy support to Ukraine, having sent 5,000 power generators via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism to the country, and is coordinating donations from the private sector to deliver energy equipment to the country, it said.
