Ukrgasvydobuvannya connects over 630 wells to distant monitoring system

MOSCOW. Nov 10 (Interfax) - Ukrgasvydobuvannya (UGV), Ukraine's leading gas producer, has integrated over 630 of its wells into a unified monitoring system since 2020.

"Ukrgasvydobuvannya has been digitalizing its production since 2020. Over the past three years, advanced technology has been implemented at over 630 wells. Over 250 wells have been connected to the unified monitoring system since the start of 2023 alone," Ukrainian media report citing Naftogaz Group's statement available on its website on Friday.

UGV said with reference to its CEO Oleg Tolmachev that the utilization of advanced technologies has reduced gas losses and operating costs for servicing wells integrated into the unified monitoring system.

"Digitalization provides new opportunities for making gas production more efficient. This is certainly a strategic course for us. We can analyze the performance of key wells online and promptly respond to any changes," he said.

UGV also plans to start monitoring the operation of its drilling rigs remotely in the near future, Tolmachev said.

As reported earlier, UGV set itself the goal of increasing natural gas production by 1 billion cubic meters to 13.5 billion cubic meters in 2023.

UGV produced 12.5 billion cubic meters of commercial natural gas in 2022, which is 3% less than in 2021.

Naftogaz owns a 100% stake in UGV.
