Ukrenergo: 419 communities across Ukraine cut off from power supply

MOSCOW. Nov 10 (Interfax) - As many as 419 populated areas remained cut off from power supply for various reasons across Ukraine as of November 10, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the power grid operator Ukrenergo on Friday.

Damage has been detected in grids in the Kharkov region and in the Kiev-controlled parts of the Donetsk and Kherson regions, it said.

A number of customers have also remained without electricity because of technical failures in the Dnepropetrovsk, Kirovograd, and Nikolayev regions and in the Kiev-controlled part of the Zaporozhye region.

Electricity generated by Ukrainian power plants is currently enough to cover the needs of all households and businesses, it said.

Ukrenergo said it saw no reasons for any restrictions in the power grid and did not set any consumption limits.

On Friday, Ukraine planned to export electricity to Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova during early hours, when domestic consumption is at its minimum, and at daytime when renewable-energy power plants operate at maximum capacity. The overall volume of exported electricity should be 3,835 MW/h, its capacity reaching 367 MW during certain hours.

Ukraine is also expected to import a total of 1,600 MW/h of electricity from Slovakia and Romania during morning and evening hours, with its maximum capacity reaching 217 MW.
