About 1,700 trucks waiting to cross border from Poland into Ukraine - Ukrainian Border Guard Service
MOSCOW. Nov 9 (Interfax) - As of the morning of November 9, 1,700 trucks are waiting to cross the Ukrainian-Polish border from Poland into Ukraine toward the three border checkpoints, Jagodzin-Dorohusk, Krakovets-Korczowa, Rava-Russkaya-Hrebenne, Ukrainian State Border Service spokesman Andrei Demchenko said.
"Half of them are heading toward the Jagodzin checkpoint," Ukrainian media quoted him as saying at a press conference in Kiev on Thursday.
The traffic is complicated solely for trucks in three directions, the protesters are not blocking the traffic for cars and buses, Demchenko said.
"Only trucks and buses are let through toward the Jagodzin checkpoint," he said.
The blockade of the Ukrainian-Polish border is exacerbating the losses of Ukrainian farmers, the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council said.
Meanwhile, the blockade by Polish carriers on the border with Ukraine results in trucks with Ukrainian grain waiting in line on the border and additional losses for commodity producers, Ukrainian Agrarian Council Deputy Chairman Denis Marchuk said, as Ukrainian media reported.
Marchuk is sure that such actions undertaken by Poland harm other European countries that are waiting for Ukrainian products.
"Of course, the conflict needs to be resolved at the EU level. As an option, we could return to the issue of European interventions. Otherwise, Ukraine will plunge into another logistical crisis. We do not have a fully functioning Black Sea, while land routes and river ports remained key destinations for Ukrainian exports," Marchuk said.
