Thousand trucks waiting to cross from Poland - Ukrainian State Border Guard Service

MOSCOW. Nov 9 (Interfax) - A thousand trucks are waiting to cross into Ukraine from Poland at three border checkpoints, namely, Yagodin-Dorohusk, Krakovets-Korchova, and Rava Ruska - Hrebenne, spokesman for the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service Andrei Demchenko said.

"As of the morning of November 8, according to the information from Polish colleagues, 1,000 trucks are waiting for the possibility to cross into Ukraine from Poland, half of them through the Yagodin checkpoint," Ukrainian media quoted Demchenko as saying in a telethon.

He assumed that the situation would continue to aggravate, as Polish carriers had promised a long-term campaign. There is no traffic congestion at other checkpoints, and the strikers are not blocking cars and buses travelling through the Yagodin, Krakovets and Rava Ruska checkpoints, he said.

"In fact, we can see that one or two trucks are coming to Ukrainian checkpoints from the side of Poland. This is the main freight transport going into Ukraine in these three areas," Demchenko said.

As reported, Polish carriers planned a one-day strike at three checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border for November 3. However, the date of starting the truck blockade was postponed until November 6. Truck traffic is hindered in the direction of three checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border: Yagodin-Dorohusk, Krakovets-Korchova, and Rava Ruska - Hrebenne.
