Expert council on competition and antitrust regulation to be created in EAEU

MINSK. Nov 8 (Interfax) - An expert council on competition and antitrust regulation is being created in the Eurasian Economic Union, the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) said in a statement.

"The heads of antimonopoly agencies of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union during a "5+1" format meeting with participation of the Minister for Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission Bakhyt Sultanov backed an EEC initiative to create an expert council on competition and antimonopoly regulation," the statement reads.

"The competition block of the Eurasian Economic Commission closely cooperates with government agencies, with the business community of the EAEU. However, for more effective work it is necessary to obtain an assessment of the activities and initiatives of the Commission by independent experts specializing in the field of competition," the EEC Minister was cited as saying in the statement.

Plans call for the Council will include representatives of independent expert communities in the field of competition and practicing lawyers from EEU countries.
