Tbilisi hails European Commission's recommendation on granting Georgia EU candidate status

TBILISI. Nov 8 (Interfax) - The European Commission's decision to recommend granting Georgia EU candidate status is historical, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said.

"We will continue dialogue with the European colleagues in the previous constructive mode. Our main purpose is full integration in the European Union, and we will achieve this purpose," Garibashvili told a briefing in Tbilisi on Wednesday, thanking the EU administration and also official representatives of the United States for the decision.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen earlier said a recommendation to the Council of the European Union to grant Georgia EU candidate status on condition of fulfilment of conditions set by the Europeans to Tbilisi had been adopted.
