Armenia to buy Indian anti-drone systems for $41.5 mln - media

YEREVAN. Nov 8 (Interfax) - Armenia will procure Indian anti-drone systems for $41.5 million as part of a $245-million defense contract.

"Armenia will buy anti-drone systems from India developed by the Indian company Zen Technologies. The contract value is $41.5 million, including funds for training servicemen," the Armenian state-run news agency Armenpress said, citing the Eurasian Times.

The system detects and identifies drones and eliminates the threat by disrupting communication, the report said.

"Zen Technologies Limited announced that at the board meeting held on October 28, 2023, it approved the establishment of a branch office in Armenia," the media outlet said.

In November 2022, the Economic Times Indian newspaper reported that India had received a large order for arms supply to Armenia. Almost $245 million worth of weapons are due to be delivered to Armenia in the coming months. Sources told the newspaper that the order included the first-ever exports of Pinaka multiple rocket launchers operated by the Indian army, as well as supplies of anti-tank missiles and ammunition.

Armenian General Staff Chief Edward Asryan and his Indian counterpart Anil Chauhan discussed the possible broadening of bilateral defense cooperation at a meeting in New Delhi in March 2023.
