Latvia accuses Russia of infringing its airspace

RIGA. Nov 7 (Interfax/BNS) - Latvia's Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian charge d'affaires ad interim on Tuesday and handed him a protest note over a Russian aircraft infringing Latvia's airspace near the two countries' joint border, the LETA news agency reported.

The breach was registered by an Air Force radar on November 6, the report said, citing the Latvian Defense Ministry. The aircraft returned into Russian territory after the illegal border crossing, the ministry said, adding the information was passed on to NATO.

The Defense Ministry informed the Foreign Ministry about the incident for conducting further diplomatic procedures.
