Ukrainian Energy Ministry's taskforce approves over 310-mln-euro worth of purchases of power equipment under Ukraine Energy Support Fund

MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax) - A Ukrainian Energy Ministry working group for the organization of humanitarian aid in the energy sector set up under the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has approved requests from companies operating in the fuel and energy sector for procuring equipment and fuel worth over 310 million euros, Energy Minister German Galushchenko said.

"From January to early October 2023, over 200 contracts were concluded within the Fund's framework for purchasing energy equipment," Ukrainian media quoted Galushchenko as saying in a ministry press release on Tuesday.

The overall amount of commitments undertaken by donors regarding their grant contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has topped 322 million euros, of which 192 million euros has been actually transferred from 15 state and private donors of several countries, and the rest of the amount is expected to come to the fund's account in the near future, the ministry said.

Grant contributions to the fund have been made by state and private donors from Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Austria, Iceland, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Hungary, as well as the European Commission and the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA).

"The Ukraine Energy Support Fund has become an efficient tool for attracting grants from partners to procure equipment," Galushchenko said.

As reported earlier, Galushchenko said during a TV marathon on November 3 that the Ukraine Energy Support Fund set up in spring 2022 to accumulate contributions from foreign governments, international financial institutions, and private donors had exceeded 300 million euros.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) announced the contribution of 54.3 million euros to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund at the end of October.

The Ukrainian Energy Ministry said on Monday that Germany had made the largest contribution totaling about 130 million euros.

In mid-October, European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson announced the European Commission's grant contribution to the fund amounting to over 50 million euros.
