Ukrainian Railways transports 2.5 million tonnes of grain cargoes in Oct

MOSCOW. Nov 3 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia, UZ) transported 2.5 million tonnes of grain cargoes by rail on all types of services, including 1.656 million tonnes in export traffic, Ukrainian media outlet said, citing a statement made by Valery Tkachev, deputy director of the UZ commercial department, at a meeting with the agribusiness community on Thursday.

According to the statement, the share of grain cargoes transportation reached 16.5% of the total amount. The average daily loading increased to 75,700 tonnes, which is 44% higher than in September. An all-time high was recorded on October 25, when over 90,000 tonnes were loaded.

The top three railway stations in transporting grain cargoes are the following: Vadul-Siret, through which 136,600 tonnes of cargoes were exported, Yagodin with 121,000 tonnes, and Izov with 101,000, UZ said.

A total of 927,400 tonnes of grain cargoes were transported in the direction of sea ports in October 2023. The Chernomorsk port received the highest amount of grain cargoes, 442,500 tonnes, followed by Odessa (286,000 tonnes) and Izmail (148,500 tonnes).
