Polish carriers postpone Ukrainian-Polish border blocking until Nov 6

MOSCOW. Nov 3 (Interfax) - Polish carriers have moved the blocking of trucks at three checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border from November 3 to November 6, Ukrainian media said on Friday, citing head of the Association of International Road Carriers of Ukraine Igor Overko as saying.

"Polish carriers said they would postpone the blocking of trucks headed to the three checkpoints from November 3 to November 6. Blockade co-leader, organizer of the protest near the Krakovets-Korchova checkpoint Tomasz Borkowski made the announcement," Overko said on a social network.

The blocking will begin at 1 p.m. on November 6. The protest organizers have received a formal approval from the local authorities to continue the action until January 3, 2024, the report said.

Trucks will be blocked at three checkpoints, namely, Yagodin-Dorohusk, Krakovets-Korchova and Rava-Ruska - Hrebenne.

A key demand of the protest organizers is to resume the issuance of permits to Ukrainian carriers and the reduction of their number to the pre-crisis level, when up to 200,000 licenses were issued each year. They also want empty Polish trucks returning from Ukraine to Poland to cross the border without waiting for 10-12 days. Another demand is stricter rules of transportation by CEMT (European Conference of Ministers of Transport permits),

It was reported earlier that 200 Polish carriers would go on a one-day strike near the Yagodin-Dorohusk checkpoint, which is the largest checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border, on November 3.

The Ukrainian Reconstruction Ministry said it had been warned about preparations for blocking checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border and initiated a meeting with Polish and European Commission officials to ensure the stable functioning of the state border.

Ukrainian Deputy Restoration Minister Sergei Derkach told Ukrainian media that most demands of the Polish carriers, threatening to block the road, could not be met.
