US Commerce Dept raises duties threefold on imports of Phosagro fertilizers

MOSCOW. Nov 3 (Interfax) - The US Department of Commerce, after an annual review, increased the duty on imports of PhosAgro phosphate fertilizers from 9.19% to 28.5%, the regulator's materials say.

At the same time, the countervailing duty rate for Moroccan OCP was reduced from 19.97% to 2.12%.

Duties on imports of phosphate fertilizers from Russia and Morocco were introduced in the spring of 2021 following an investigation initiated at the request of the largest US phosphate producer, Mosaic. The company argued that "large volumes of unfairly subsidized imports from Russia and Morocco" were harming its business.
