Uzbekistan to import over 1 mln tonnes of oil and petroleum products in 2024 - Uzbek energy minister

SAMARKAND. Nov 3 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan intends to import more than 1 million tons of oil and petroleum products in 2024, Uzbek Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov said on the sidelines of the XVI Verona Eurasian Economic Forum.

"Yes, we are overall considering oil and petroleum products of more than 1 million tonnes," Mirzamakhmudov responded when asked by reporters about the expected volumes of supplies in 2024.

Mirzamakhmudov noted that the import volume of oil and petroleum products should also exceed 1 million tonnes by the end of this year; however, "we are planning more for 2024, as much as we can, as the economy is growing, and the need is growing," he said.

Mirzamakhmudov confirmed that Uzbekistan has signed an intergovernmental agreement with Russia on supplying oil. "Yes. [...] There are no volumes, and the most important matter in principle is that the supply issues [have been resolved]," he said.
