Russia to create national remembrance center - president's decree

MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree creating an autonomous nonprofit organization called the "National Center of Historical Memory under the president of the Russian Federation."

The document was published on the official legal information website on Thursday.

The center's aim is to "preserve and protect traditional Russian spiritual and moral values, culture and historical memory, and to implement socially significant projects and initiatives," the decree said.

"The property of the nonprofit organization shall be formed out of earmarks from the federal budget, voluntary asset contributions and donations, and other sources in accordance with the Russian Federation's laws," the decree says.
