Ukrainian State Border Service warns of truck traffic problems on Polish border from Fri due to Polish carriers' strike

MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Starting from Friday, November 3, Polish carriers are planning to go on a long-term strike, blocking the traffic of trucks across the Ukrainian-Polish border, Ukrainian media reported citing the Ukrainian State Border Service website, which in turn refers to information from Polish counterparts.

Traffic will be blocked towards the Jagodzin-Dorohusk, Krakovets-Korczowa and Rava-Russkaya-Hrebenne checkpoints, the service said. There could be traffic congestions on the highways leading to and from Poland.

"According to available information from Polish colleagues, the organizers of such actions in Poland are not planning to obstruct the traffic of buses, vehicles carrying humanitarian aid and perishable goods, and passenger cars," the statement said.

The Ukrainian authorities are taking all possible measures to improve the cross-border traffic, and the Ukrainian Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure has initiated a meeting with all stakeholders to ensure the appropriate transit across the border, the State Border Guard Service said. The service will provide updates about the situation, it said.
