Ukraine's state budget deficit in Oct totals $2.7 bln, $24.8 bln from Jan-Oct

MOSCOW. Nov 2 (Interfax) - The state budget of Ukraine from January-October 2023 was executed with a deficit of UAH 900 billion ($24.8 billion at the current exchange rate), Ukrainian media reported, citing a release from the Ministry of Finance.

The deficit of the general fund of the state budget (taxes and fees are sent to this fund and basic expenses are financed from it) totaled UAH 923.1 billion against the forecasted UAH 1.478 trillion.

Earlier it was reported that the state budget deficit of Ukraine in January-September 2023 totaled UAH 801.6 billion, and the general fund UAH 835.4 billion.

The report says that cash expenditures of the state budget in January-October reached UAH 3.114 trillion, including UAH 2.346 trillion from the general fund. (95.1% of plan). State budget revenues reached UAH 2.206 trillion, including UAH 1.414 trillion to the general fund. Of this, international grant assistance was UAH 404.9 billion. (UAH 398.5 billion from the USA).

In October, Ukraine's state budget deficit increased to UAH 98.4 billion. ($2.7 billion) from UAH 87 billion in September, while in August it reached UAH 130.7 billion. The deficit of the general fund amounted to UAH 87.7 billion versus UAH 85.6 billion in September and UAH 122.2 billion in August.

The Ministry of Finance, citing data from the State Treasury, indicated that cash expenditures from the state budget in October fell significantly to UAH 292.1 billion after jumping to UAH 444.8 billion in September from UAH 310.1 billion in August. General fund expenses decreased slightly to UAH 228.1 billion from UAH 230.2 billion in September and UAH 248.2 billion in August.

Receipts into the general fund last month totaled UAH 139.4 billion versus UAH 144.1 billion in September and UAH 124.7 billion in August. US grant international assistance was received in the amount of UAH 42 billion versus UAH 45.7 billion in September, while it was absent in August.

As reported, after the Verkhovna Rada adjusted the parameters of the 2023 state budget in October, expenses were approved in the amount of 3.393 trillion (UAH 3.95 trillion for the general fund), and income of 1.4164 trillion was approved (UAH 1.254 trillion for the general fund). The maximum deficit size is set at UAH 2.104 trillion (UAH 1.835 trillion for the general fund).
