Gazprom CEO Miller: Gas market for Western countries to remain scarce amid rising demand in coming decades

MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - The gas market for Western countries will remain scarce, Gazprom CEO and executive board chairman Alexei Miller said during the plenary meeting at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

"The gas market will remain constrained for Western countries. Meantime, the volume of demand for gas will grow steadily in the coming decades. [...] The paths for developing the gas market will now be absolutely determined in the new world centers of economic development, in the countries of the global South and Asia-Pacific region. Russia is dynamically developing its relations with these countries," Miller said.

Miller recalled the start of gas supplies to Uzbekistan on October 7.

According to Miller, gas supplies from Russia to Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan have become a signal to the global gas market that the intensification of relations between the countries of Eurasia is the vector that will determine the dynamics of growth in gas consumption.
