Gazprom Neft seeking partners in China to sell hydrogen

MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Gazprom Neft has announced a tender for provision of technical consulting services by the end of April 2024 to find Chinese partners to sell hydrogen in China, company materials showed.

The Russian oil company also hopes to arrange several meetings with potential Chinese partners both in Russia and in China.

The company expects the winner of the tender to conduct an analysis of potential customers for low-carbon hydrogen in China, including a list of companies and their plans to increase low-carbon hydrogen use on the horizon of 2026-2030. The winner will also have to put together a self-contained proposal from Gazprom Neft for customers in China, including scenarios for negotiations.

The ideal contractor should be able to get the oil company to the signing of a letter of intent for the purchase of hydrogen with a customer in the country, but this is not a condition stipulated in the guaranteed services.

The tender contract will be concluded in Russian rubles.

Gazprom Neft told Interfax that it signed a letter of intent at this year's Eastern Economic Forum with Rosatom Group subsidiary H2 Clean Energy and H2 Tech on a project to produce low-carbon hydrogen in Sakhalin Region. Production could total 36,500 tonnes per year with potential for growth after 2030. The hydrogen will be produced for the domestic market and for export to the Asia-Pacific region.
