Putin accepts Vologda region governor Kuvshinnikov's resignation, appoints Filimonov acting governor

MOSCOW. Oct 31 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree regarding the acting governor of the Vologda region, the Kremlin press service said.

Under the document, following Vologda region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov's application for the early termination of his powers and in line with federal legislation, the president has decided to accept Kuvshinnikov's resignation at his own request.

"Georgy Yuryevich Filimonov is to be appointed acting governor of the Vologda region until a person elected governor of the Vologda region takes office," the document said.

This decree will take effect from the date it is signed, it said.
