Citizens of 25 countries eligible for simplified rules to open bank accounts in Russia - Mishustin

MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said he has signed an order approving a list of countries whose citizens and legal entities can open bank accounts and term deposits at Russian banks under a simplified procedure.

"The signed order designates a list of 25 countries whose citizens and legal entities will be able to open accounts and deposits at Russian banks under a simplified procedure," Mishustin said at a meeting with deputy prime ministers on Monday.

This measure will apply to citizens of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Brazil, India, China, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, among others, he said.

"For this, foreign citizens will have to present a package of necessary documents to a credit institution in their country before they enter Russia. Upon arrival, they will already be able to make payments at our banks," Mishustin said.

This should make it simpler for individuals and businesses from friendly countries to do business in Russia, he said.
