Ilim senior VP for legal named group CEO

MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - The board of directors of Ilim Group has appointed senior vice president for legal affairs Alexei Lomko to the position of CEO effective October 30, the Russian forestry company reported.

Former Ilim CEO Ksenia Sosnina stepped down in early July 2023 after seven years in the position due to the expiration of her contract. Lomko was named acting CEO immediately after her departure, but senior vice president for sales, supply chain management and the packaging business Alexei Chernyaev was appointed acting CEO on July 18 and held this position until Monday.

Lomko, who graduated from the Ural Academy of Law and earned an MBA from Northwestern University and the Hong Kong University of Science Technology, joined Ilim in 2005 as deputy director of legal affairs. In 2007 he became head of the department, which provided legal support for the formation of a joint venture with International Paper. The U.S. company pulled out of the venture in September 2023, selling its stake to Ilim co-owners Zakhar Smushkin and Boris Zingarevich.

Lomko was appointed vice president in 2013 and promoted to senior vice president for legal in 2018.
