Developing national economies of EAEU member states important - Russian PM

BISHKEK. Oct 26 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has noted the need for further developing the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) despite "the unfavorable external circumstances."

"We will discuss the interaction in every key area of the development of our integration. Russia is presiding in the union this year, so today we will discuss the initiatives named as a priority by Russian President Vladimir Putin. First and foremost, these are the stronger technological sovereignty and the digital transformation of the five states. We have made progress in most of these areas," Mishustin said at a narrow-format meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

The EAEU becomes a center forming a multipolar world order, it has proven to be resilient to external challenges and global problems, Mishustin said.

"Over the years of its existence, mutual trade between the five countries has practically doubled, while industrial production has grown 20%. There are good dynamics in other areas, as well," Mishustin said.

It is important to further jointly develop national economies "despite the unfavorable external circumstances" to ensure free movement of goods, services, investments and workforce in the EAEU, Mishustin said.
