Yandex Go sets up legal entity in Uzbekistan to pay local taxes

TASHKENT. Oct 26 (Interfax) - Yandex Go, one of the leading ride hailing services in Uzbekistan, has set up a legal entity in the country in order to pay local taxes, the head of the company in the CIS, Kirill Svintsov told reporters on Wednesday.

"The company has registered a legal entity in Uzbekistan [and it has been] included in the tax registry. We will localize the Yandex Go information service in the country by December 1. This means that the service will be provided by the local company with payment of applicable taxes," Svintsov said.

Earlier in October, Uzbekistan's State Tax Committee said that Yandex Go might be blocked in the country if it does not register as a tax resident by December. It was supposed to ensure integration with the information system of the tax authorities and issue automatically generated receipts to customers for tax purposes.

Yandex Go CIS said it is the first platform in Uzbekistan to start working with the country's Tax Committee in this area.

"This is a new process for the market and we expect to carry out this task together in a reasonable period of time," Svintsov said.

Yandex Go, which has been working in Uzbekistan since April 2018, provides services in Tashkent and nine other cities in the country. More than 80,000 drivers are connected to the service, data from the Tax Committee showed.
