Rosselkhoznadzor to ban imports of quarantined products from Denmark as of October 27

MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - The Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) will ban imports of quarantined products from Denmark, as well as products grown in Denmark through third-party countries, beginning on October 27, Rosselkhoznadzor said in a statement.

Rosselkhoznadzor said that the ban is owing to identifying in seed products the quarantined ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.), which is not permitted to enter Russia or the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Rosselkhoznadzor explained that ragweed has many ways of spreading. Contamination results in a significant decline in crop yields and the quality of animal feed, while the costs of seed cleaning, agricultural practices, and herbicides rise.
