Turkmengaz is looking for an equipment supplier for development of Galkynysh field

ASHGABAT. Oct 25 (Interfax) - State Concern Turkmengaz on Wednesday announced an international tender to select a contractor to supply of equipment for the development of the Galkynysh gas field.

An announcement posted in the Business Turkmenistan online publication said that Turkmengaz is selecting a contractor "for the supply of special cements and chemical additives for them, attachments for casing strings (centralizers, shoes, staged cementing couplings, central cementing process) and the provision of services for cementing casing strings at 14 production wells at the Galkynysh field."

Tender proposals will be accepted within 30 working days from the date of publication of the announcement until 18:00 local time (16:00 Moscow time). Applications from companies registered or having bank accounts in offshore zones are not accepted.

Applicants should familiarize themselves with the Law of Turkmenistan "On tenders for the supply of goods, performance of work, and provision of services for public needs," and will receive an invoice for $1,725, including VAT (15% in Turkmenistan). The full package of tender documents will be issued only after payment of the tender fee.

As previously reported, the Galkynysh field has the second largest gas reserves in the world (27.4 tcm).

Based on forecasts from specialists from the Turkmengeology state corporation and British GaffneyCline, the period of constant gas extraction at each stage of development of the Galkynysh field will be over 30 years.

At this stage of Galkynysh field exploration, forecast calculations show seven stages of development during which the total annual gas production across the entire field will reach about 200 bcm.

Currently, the Galkynysh field is in its first stage of development, which produces 30 bcm of gas per year. These volumes are used by the domestic market in Turkmenistan and sent to China via the three lines of the Turkmenistan - Uzbekistan - Kazakhstan - China gas pipeline.

Negotiations and agreement of contract details are underway to begin drilling wells and equipping the second stage. The gas produced at this stage will be used to supply an additional 25 bcm per year to China via the fourth gas pipeline line, which is planned from Turkmenistan through the territory of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The third stage of Galkynysh development involves shipments of 33 bcm of gas per year via the Turkmenistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan - India gas pipeline, currently under construction.

Turkmengaz calculations show that the fourth stage can provide gas shipments via the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline, a project currently under discussion.

There have yet to be any announcements as to where gas could be sent from stages 5-7 of development of Galkynysh.
