Ukraine ranks second among honey suppliers to EU by end of 2022

MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - Ukraine's share in honey imports to the European Union in 2022 reached 24%, which allowed the country to rank second among exporting countries, Ukrainian media reported, citing a message of the Beehive company on social media.

The latter refers to data from Eurostat and the European Federation of Honey Packers and Distributors (F.E.E.D.M.).

Along with Ukraine, the leading countries in honey supplies to the EU include China (36%), Argentina (10%), Mexico (7%), Turkey (4%), Cuba and Vietnam (3% each), it said.

Beehive's preliminary forecasts show that the total amount of honey exported from Ukraine in 2023 will be 5%-10% higher than in 2022.

"It can be noted that Ukraine holds its position on the market and has every chance to increase its export volume, taking a market share from other major actors," the company said.

As reported, the investment holding EFI Group (Effective Investments) began to sell Ukrainian honey produced by one of its enterprises under the Beehive trademark in supermarkets in the United Kingdom.

The production facilities of Beehive LLC with the area of 5,000 square meters, which were registered in 2013, are located in the Cherkassy region. The daily output of finished products is 40 tonnes.
