Kyrgyzstan and China sign agreements on construction of wind farms, solar power plants and coal mining

BISHKEK. Oct 25 (Interfax) - Bishkek and Beijing agreed on the construction of wind and solar power plants in Kyrgyzstan, as well as on the development of coal deposits, the press service of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers said.

"During Prime Minister of China Li Qiang's official visit to Kyrgyzstan, 12 documents were signed," the press service said.

The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan and Goldwind Science and Technology Co. Ltd have agreed to build wind power plants with capacities of up to 3 GW. An agreement on the construction of solar power plants was signed with Molin Energy Company Limited.

In addition, the Kyrgyzkomur State Enterprise and Chinese company Hebei Jinsheng Mining Engineering Co. Ltd signed an agreement on the joint development of the Tegene coal deposit. Kyrgyzkomur also signed agreements with Tomiris-Ken LLC on the joint development of the Sulukta Pole-11 coal deposit, and with Kashi Shunbaofu Trade and Export Trade Corporation on the joint development of the Torugart 1 coal deposit.

There was also an agreement signed on joint activities for the construction of a coal logistics center with a conveyor belt in the Osh region of Kyrgyzstan near the Kyrgyz-Chinese border.

During the Prime Minister's visit, a cross-border cooperation program for 2023-2027 was also signed between the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the Chinese government.

This spring, during a visit by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov to China, the parties entered into agreements on several energy projects. The Kyrgyz Ministry of Energy and Chinese China Power International Development Limited signed an agreement on the construction of a 1 GW solar power plant in the Issyk-Kul region. In addition, an agreement of intent for cooperation in the field of electricity exports from Kyrgyzstan to China was signed between the country's Ministry of Energy and Chinese company TBEA. In total, 25 documents were signed during Japarov's state visit to China.
