Azerbaijani president, Turkish DM discuss further military cooperation

BAKU. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler on Tuesday to discuss military cooperation, the presidential website said.

The sides noted successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey in all areas, including military affairs, the website said. They lauded the Azerbaijani-Turkish tactical exercise, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk 2023, held in various parts of Azerbaijan, and the high level of professionalism and skills demonstrated during the exercise.

The sides also underlined the role of regular meetings and contacts between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkey and the significance of a visit paid by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Nakhchivan in September 2023, the press service said.

The sides touched on the antiterrorist operation carried out by Azerbaijan in September (in the Karabakh region), which fully restored the sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

"It was stressed at the meeting that Guler's visit to Azerbaijan would enhance bilateral relations, including closer cooperation in the military field. They exchanged views on further interaction," the press service said.
