Belarus' Emergency Situations Ministry issues license for commercial operation of No. 2 power unit at BelNPP

MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Belarus' Emergency Situations Ministry has issued a license for the commercial operation of the No. 2 power unit at the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP), the Energy Ministry's press service said in a statement.

"The license of the Belarusian NPP state enterprise has been amended to permit the launch of commercial operation of the No. 2 power unit. The Emergency Situations Ministry is assured that the limits and conditions of safe operation as established per the plant design are confirmed and substantiated, and the solutions included in the operational and emergency documentation meet the safety requirements," according to the ministry's statement.

"Issuing the license to operate the No. 2 power unit concludes many years of work by all the interested departments to construct a modern nuclear and radiation safe infrastructure in our country," the Energy Ministry notes.

The Emergency Situations Ministry on Tuesday took the decision to issue the license during a ministerial meeting chaired by Emergency Situations Minister Vadim Sinyavsky.
