Russia might secure right to export corn, rice to China from all regions

MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Russia might secure the right to export corn and rice to China from all regions of the country under changes to the protocol on phytosanitary requirements for corn, rice, soybeans and rapeseeds that was signed on December 17, 2015.

A proposal from the Agriculture Ministry to hold negotiations on making these changes to the protocol concerning corn and rice exports has been approved, according to a government order signed on October 20 and posted on the official website for legal information.

Russian plant and animal health watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor told Interfax that making the changes to the protocol will make it possible to start exporting corn and rice from all parts of Russia. At president, exports of these products are limited to five regions: Transbaikal, Primorye, Khabarovsk Territory, Amur Region and the Jewish Autonomous Region.

The agency expects the changes to the protocol to be signed soon.
