Ukrainian State Border Service updates border crossing statistics

MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - The number of people who entered Ukraine from October 14 to 20, 2023 was 5,000 higher than the number of those who departed the country in this period, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the State Border Service's social media post.

The number of people who departed Ukraine last week increased to 269,000 from 261,000, and the number of those entering it increased to 274,000 from 257,000 compared to the previous week, the service said.

The number of vehicles that crossed Ukraine's western borders grew to 132,000 from 131,000, and the number of vehicles cleared to carry humanitarian aid declined to 669 from 692 over the 42nd week of 2023.

According to the United Nations Refugee Agency's data as of October 10, the number of Ukrainian refugees across the world was estimated at 6.2 million, including 5.831 million in European countries outside of Ukraine.

Inside Ukraine, there were 5.088 million internally displaced people as of the end of May, according to the UN.
