Sweden to fund drafting of green transition, recovery plan for Ukraine

MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - The Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) begins a project to draft a roadmap for the achievement of Ukraine's climate neutrality by 2050, SEI Environmental Policy and Strategy Team leader Bernardas Padegimas said.

"We will begin to actively work on the project and will discuss it at different levels. The goal is to help Ukraine achieve climate neutrality through green transition and recovery," Ukrainian media quoted Padegimas as saying at the international high-level conference United for Justice United for Nature in Kiev.

The Swedish government finances the project planning, Padegimas said. According to his representation, the roadmap shall be drawn up to June 2025.

Later on, the roadmap will serve as a basis for "the elaboration of several projects with specific donors" by March 2026, he said.

The roadmap for Ukraine will be drafted on the basis of the European green transition principles and will declare the targets of Ukraine and mechanisms of their achievement in the short, medium and long term, Padegimas said.
