Russia's Digital Ministry working on localizing servers of online gaming cos

PERM. Oct 23 (Interfax) - Russia's Digital Development Ministry is working on the issue of having online gaming companies that work in Russia move their servers to the country, Digital Development and Communications Minister Maksut Shadayev said.

"We have now received [instructions], we will work [on it]," Shadayev told reporters when asked about this at the Robot Battle tournament on Saturday.

He said Russian game developers have already localized their servers in Russia. "Russian game developers' servers are in Russia. Yandex, for example, makes a bunch of games," Shadayev said.

President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Sports and Fitness Council in Perm on October 19 that concrete steps need to be taken to get online gaming companies that operate in Russia to move their offices and servers to the country.
