Zelensky signs into law bill boosting Ukraine's 2023 budget by 322.6 bln hryvni

MOSCOW. Oct 20 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has signed into law a bill introducing amendments to the law on Ukraine's 2023 budget to increase financing for the security and defense sector and to address priority issues.

The amendments boost the budget's overall expenditures by 322.6 billion hryvni, Ukrainian media said, citing an explanatory note to the bill.

Specifically, spending on national security and defense has been increased by nearly 303 billion hryvni, including 211 billion hryvni for the Defense Ministry, 79.2 billion hryvni for the Interior Ministry, 4.2 billion hryvni for the Security Service of Ukraine, 4.3 billion hryvni for the Strategic Industry Ministry, 2.5 billion hryvni for the Main Intelligence Directorate, 570.2 million hryvni for the State Special Communications Service, 500.8 million hryvni for the Foreign Intelligence Service, and 230.5 million hryvni for the State Security Administration.

Budget financing has also been raised for the Social Policy Ministry by 16.5 billion hryvni, for the Foreign Ministry by 1.3 billion hryvni, for the Education Ministry by 572.8 million hryvni, for the Economic Security Bureau by 315.2 million hryvni, for the Cabinet's Secretariat by 289.6 million hryvni, for the Justice Ministry by 91.2 million hryvni, for the National Academy of Medical Sciences by 53.5 million hryvni, for the State Property Fund by 43 million hryvni, for the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ministry by 30.5 million hryvni, for the Finance Ministry by 321 million hryvni, and for the Culture and Information Policy Ministry by 18.4 million hryvni.
