Ukraine's DTEK KREM doubles investment in rebuilding, developing power grids

MOSCOW. Oct 18 (Interfax) - DTEK Kiev Regional Power Grids (DTEK KREM) has invested about UAH 700 million in 2023 in restoring and developing the power grids to go through this fall and winter period, which exceeds the investments of previous periods by more than two times, General Director Vitaly Shaida said.

"If, for example, in 2020 our investments in the power grids amounted to about UAH 300 million, this year it is about UAH 700 million," Shaida was quoted by Ukrainian media as saying at a press briefing in Kiev on Wednesday.

The increase in investments is due, in particular, to the company's intention to develop its networks, he said. At the same time, the company has managed to restore 10,000 kilometers of damaged networks by this time, as well as 3,000 transformer substations and 71 10-0.4 kV substations, Shaida said.

"We have rebuilt all the networks, they are fully ready for the fall-winter period," the DTEK KREM head said.

In total, the company revamped 278 important energy facilities and 3,712 kilometers of power grids, repaired and tested 864 cable lines, and cleared 3,112 kilometers of lines this year. By the end of the year, it intends to retrofit 110 more facilities, repair almost 2,000 kilometers and clear 1,200 kilometers of lines.

In particular, the company installed a 110/10 kV substation in one of the region's energy-deficient nodes, which will improve the reliability of power supply, Shaida also said.

DTEK KREM serves 1.05 million household customers and 30,000 business customers in the Kiev region.
