Total of 413 populated localities in Ukraine now without electricity - Ukrenergo

MOSCOW. Oct 18 (Interfax) - As many as 413 towns and villages in Ukraine remain without electricity on October 18 for various reasons.

The networks of the regional power distribution companies sustained damage in the Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov and Chernigov regions and the Kiev-controlled part of the Donetsk and Zaporozhye regions. Power supply was restored to consumers in the Dnepropetrovsk region as of this morning, Ukrainian media said on Wednesday, citing the Ukrenergo power grid operator.

On October 18, Ukraine is importing a total of 195 MWh from Moldova, Ukrenergo said. Maximum capacity reaches 63 MW in certain hours.

Ukraine is exporting electricity to Slovakia and Moldova in a total amount of 4,131 MWh during nighttime and daytime hours when solar farms are active. Maximum capacity reaches 398 MW in certain hours.

"The amount of electricity generated by Ukrainian power plants is sufficient to cover the needs of all household and commercial consumers [...] No consumption caps have been introduced," the company said.
