Russia's 2023 grain yield to stand at 137-138 mln tonnes, export potential 50-60 mln tonnes - Putin

BEIJING. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Russia will harvest approximately 137-138 million tonnes of grain this year and export 50-60 million tonnes, the same as last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

"Last year we had a record high yield, at 158 million tonnes of grain. This year too will be very good. It's already clear that it will be in the region of 137-138 million tonnes," Putin said at a meeting with Pakistan's caretaker prime minister, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, on Tuesday.

This means Russia has retained its good export potential, "essentially just like last year, just under 50-60 million tonnes," he said.

Russia shipped around a million tonnes of grain to Pakistan in the first eight months of this year, Putin said.

"We are ready to honor our obligations, and there is every basis and prerequisite for this," Putin said.
