Chinese company Sinopec planning production facility for terephthalic acid and polyethylene terephthalate in Atyrau

ASTANA. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Chinese Sinopec plans to build a complex for the production of terephthalic acid and polyethylene terephthalate in Atyrau, the press service of the President of Kazakhstan said following a meeting between Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sinopec Ma Yongshen in Beijing.

The chairman of the board of directors of the Chinese company "shared plans for the construction of a complex for the production of terephthalic acid and polyethylene terephthalate at the Atyrau oil refinery," the press service said.

"We want to contribute to the development of this project. We attach great significance and importance to this project," Ma Yongshen said.

The parties also touched upon the potential for further cooperation and the implementation of joint investment projects in the petrochemical sector and energy, in the field of geological study of subsoil and subsoil use.
