Ukrainian MHP completes sowing winter crops, maintains area under winter wheat at last year's level

MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Ukrainian agricultural holding MHP has completed its autumn sowing campaign, Ukrainian media reported with reference to an announcement from the company's press service on social media.

"The total area sown with winter wheat at the agricultural holding's farms this year is 39,000 hectares, which is unchanged from last year. At the same time, 37,000 hectares were sown with winter rape, which is 4,000 hectares more than last year," Sergei Dobrogorsky, Deputy Chairman of the Board for Agricultural Affairs at MHP said.

Sowing was done in 12 regions of Ukraine, where the agricultural holding's crop production enterprises are located.

Previously, the agricultural holding reported that 37,000 hectares would be allocated for rapeseed which is 12% more than last year, and 50,000 hectares would go to winter wheat (an increase of 25%).

MHP is the largest Ukrainian producer of chicken meat. It is also engaged in the production of grains, sunflower oil, and meat products.
