Bulgaria implementing fee of around $111/thousand cubic meters to transit Russian gas

MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Bulgaria is implementing a fee to transit Russian gas through its territory, and the law published in the country's official publication stipulates that import and transit are subject to a duty of 20 Bulgarian lev per 1 MWh, or around $111 per thousand cubic meters.

The government is implementing a similar fee on LNG.

Importers and gas transportation organizations are responsible for paying the duty.

Bulgaria, which was completely dependent on Russian gas supplies previously, refused to accept the new form of payment in rubles for energy resources at the beginning of 2022. The overland continuation of the TurkStream gas pipeline passes through Bulgaria, via which fuel flows to Hungary and Serbia.
