Ukrainian State Border Service updates border crossing statistics

MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - The number of people who departed Ukraine from October 7 to 13, 2023 was 4,000 higher than the number of those who entered the country, compared to 2,000 a week before, while this figure had varied from 14,000 to 27,000 over the previous four weeks, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the State Border Service's social media post.

The number of people who departed Ukraine last week declined to 261,000 from 271,000, and the number of those entering Ukraine declined to 257,000 from 269,000 compared to the previous week, the service said.

The number of vehicles that crossed Ukraine's western borders decreased to 131,000 from 133,000, and the number of vehicles cleared to carry humanitarian aid increased to 692 from 611 over the 41st week of 2023.

According to the United Nations Refugee Agency's data as of October 10, the number of Ukrainian refugees across the world was estimated at 6.2 million (4,000-5,000 fewer than a week before), including 5.831 million in European countries outside of Ukraine.

Inside Ukraine, there were 5.088 million internally displaced people as of the end of May, according to the UN.
