Ukraine, Moldova arranging joint control at railroad border crossing

MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Ukraine and Moldova will organize joint control at the Novosovitskaya-Cuciurgan railway border crossing in Ukrainian territory, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said.

"The chiefs of our countries' border and customs services have signed a relevant protocol following an online conversation with Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean. The first time we applied joint railway [border] control was at the Serpneve 1 - Basarabeasca crossing point this past spring. This considerably facilitates Ukrainian exports, halves the duration of all procedures, minimizes queues, and saves public funds," Ukrainian media quoted Shmygal as saying on social media.

In the future, joint controls should be introduced at all of Ukraine's crossing points with Moldova and all of its European Union neighbors, he said.

"Together, we're developing quick logistics in the west. The Ukraine-Moldova-Romania triangle has every opportunity for intensifying logistical corridors to diversify Ukrainian export routes," he said.
