EIB to allocate 30.7 mln euros to enhance municipal infrastructure in Ukraine

MOSCOW. Oct 13 (Interfax) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) will provide 30.7 million euros for enhancing municipal infrastructure and urban public transport in Kiev, Odessa, Lvov, Lutsk, and Sumy, Ukrainian media have reported with reference to the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine.

This sum includes 22 million euros to procure new Ukrainian-built trolleybuses and trams for Kiev, Lvov, and Odessa.

The remaining 8.74 million euros should be spent on rehabilitating the Gribovichi landfill and solid waste management facility in Lvov, introducing energy efficiency measures in Sumy's kindergartens, and enhancing water supply and sewerage systems in Lutsk.

"The EIB's support for Ukraine is unwavering. This new funding underscores our commitment to assist not only in bringing immediate relief, but also in the longer-term rebuilding of the country," the EIB quoted its President Werner Hoyer as saying.

This support is part of the EIB Ukraine Solidarity Urgent Response package, under which Ukraine has already received 1.7 billion euros since 2022 to finance emergency repairs to its infrastructure.
