Chinese PetroChina International to supply jet fuel to Air Astana

ALMATY. Oct 13 (Interfax) - Air Astana and PetroChina International Kazakhstan will collaborate on the supply of sustainable aviation and kerosene-type fuels.

These agreements were reached under a strategic partnership memorandum.

The companies intend to collaborate on infrastructure development and adopt the international aviation fuel standard, Jet A-1.

"Due to the absence of Jet A-1 fuel production in Kazakhstan, the two companies are discussing the imports of Jet A-1 and environmentally friendly aviation fuel (SAF) directly from Chinese oil refineries," the company said.

Air Astana said that Jet A-1 fuel, compliant with IATA standards, has unique production and storage technologies that set it apart from the commonly used TS-1/RT brands in Kazakhstan.

"Jet A-1 offers significant advantages, including reduced fire hazard, lower emissions, and an extended aircraft engine overhaul cycle," according to the statement.

PetroChina International Kazakhstan specializes in wholesale petroleum product supplies and operates under the ownership of the Chinese PetroChina International Co LTD.
